My sweet Grandma Byrl passed away on December 12, 2008. My sister and I flew home for her funeral and even though it was a hectic time for both of us to leave I'm so glad we did. There was a beautiful service for Grandma Byrl and it was so good to see all of my family, especially during the holidays.Grandma Byrl was very special to all of us. She was the perfect grandma...the kind of grandma every child should have, and we feel so blessed to have had her in our lives. For the funeral service we had all the grandkids write memories of Grandma Byrl and here's a list of things we loved and will always cherish about Grandma Byrl:
Sleepovers
Homemade milk shakes
Learning how to crochet
Watching wheel of fortune
Doing puzzles with us
Making our favorite foods including: fried potatoes, tenderloin, mac n cheese, blackberry pies, pop's chocolate chip cookies (dough), wafer cookies
Walks to the water tower
Watching the deer eat apples off the tree
Calling for the peacock
Laying on her lap while she brushed our hair
She never missed a school or church event
Kept picture albums for all the grandkids
Never forgot our birthdays and she'd send cards and letter with stickers
$2 bills for our birthdays
Clam digging
Made afghans for all of us and loved to crochet
Took us to Casey's pond to fish
Picking blackberries and raspberries in her amazing berry garden
Trips to Aberdeen to get clam chowder at Skippers
Visits with the Avon lady and presents from Avon
Made calendars with stickers on birthdays and holidays
She would pray for hours at night for family and friends
She always made us feel special and loved
Her funny button down aprons with tissues in the pockets
Peanut brittle
Listening to her poem recited from memory
Long talks and holding hands
Her soft skin
Her lessons on fairness and integrity
Sharing
Having tea parties with Nadia
Always stopped what she was doing to give you a hug and make us feel welcome

Our last memory of Grandma Byrl was at the nursing home. My two sisters, my niece and I went to go visit Grandma and we took her for a walk around the care center. We found a piano and my niece started to play a song since she had been learning to play. She played "I Know My Redeemer Lives" and all three of us had tears streaming down our face when Grandma put up her hand and flicked it to leave. So the tears turned to laughter and our last memory of Grandma will always put a smile on our face.
We will always love our Grandma Byrl.

The tribute you have given about Mom is very touching. And the picture of us, what can I say, we are all so beautiful.
