Master Plan

Chloe has become quite the planner. For example: mom, after we go to sleep, then wake up in the morning, and then you go to work and I go to Traci's and you pick me up and we come home, then we'll have chocolate milk? Another example: mom, after Josie's birthday, then Tiffy's birthday and RyRy's birthday, then Lancie's birthday and then it will be my birthday (her birthday is 6 months away). I guess she just wants to make sure that we don't forget about the important things, i.e. chocolate milk and her birthday. :)

Yuck, messy hands

I think I've created a monster. I can't stand having messy hands. The slightest bit of stick, wet, dirt, grit, slime, grease, you name it, drives me insane. So, of course, if my girls have had any of the aforementioned items on their hands I've had to wipe it off immediately. I guess Chloe has followed in her mother's footsteps because she can't even finish eating a meal without having a wet rag to clean her hands. We got some Krispy Kreme's this weekend and Chloe wouldn't even finish her doughnut because she didn't want to touch the doughnut. Oh well, having OCD over clean hands isn't such a bad thing, right?

My favorite stage

Over the past 4 1/2 years I have been saying that each stage is my favorite with Chloe. Well, except for the whole newborn stage (definitely not my favorite). I know I wasn't very good at journaling Chloe's younger years, but I have completely forgot about each stage and I'm saying the same thing about Alanna as she goes through the stages. Six months was my favorite when she was sitting up and smiling at the drop of a hat. Now I am absolutely in love with the one year old stage. The wobbily walking, the cute babbling (her new sound is "ch" for cheese), the tiny person trying to be a big girl, the little shake when a good beat comes on, and the snuggles when it's time to go night night. When I see her I just want to squeeze her. I love my baby girl!

Don't forget my shoes

For the first 14 months of her life Alanna has had zero desire to wear shoes. As soon as we put the shoes on they would be off. In fact, she would sometimes have the first one off before we got the second one on. And even if we were able to get them both on and distract her, as soon as we were in the car they would be off so we gave up. Same was true for socks. So, yes, I was the bad mom walking into the store in the middle of a winter storm with a barefoot baby. Well, a few days ago that changed. When we asked Chloe to get her shoes on Alanna grabbed some socks and a shoe and was trying to put them on. Yay for big sisters being a good example. Now, let's hope she hops onto the potty one of these days (but I won't hold my breath).

December 2010 Photo Update

I took the girls to Studio Lush in Pleasant Grove for Alanna's 1st birthday pictures. Wouldn't you know it...Chloe was all for getting her picture taken, but Alanna wasn't having any of it. I'm always amazed when you get a few good shots after a terrible experience. She finally got happy once we put the cake in front of her, but still no smiles. Oh well, I'm still a fan!

A Winter "One"derland

Let the party begin!!!

The month of December is always crazy for everyone, but for me it's crazy times 10. You name it, we got it during the month of December. It seems like everything gets packed in the first 2 weeks because the week before Christmas is usually open for most people and this year was no different. So, we had Alanna's party on December 23rd. We had a full house with family from both sides (I know, the Memmot clan can make any house a full house :)), and some friends.

Our Winter "One"derland party was a success, not that Alanna will remember any of it, but her crazy mom will. We had pizza for dinner, then a dessert spread afterwards that included white chocolate covered popcorn, licorice, gumballs, swedish fish, marshmallow snowmen, white chocolate oreos, powdered donuts and cupcakes...whew! And, Alanna had her very own cake (see pictures below). She was not afraid to dig in either. As soon as she had a taste of it she wrapped both her little hands around that thing and dove in, head first. You go, girl!

My big ONE year old

My Alanna baby turned one in December. She's so big now! There were many pictures taken all around the big day, but this picture was actually taken on her birthday, December 19, 2010. Maybe it's not the best birthday account, but what can I say...she's still so stinkin' cute!

When I think of my big ONE year old, I think of:
  • Dancing--She absolutely loves music. A song will come on the TV or in another room, I'll sing a song, or some toy plays a song and she just starts shakin' it. She's my little dancer.
  • Spoiled--All she has to do is groan and point and whatever she wants is at her fingertips. Maybe it has to do with lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents that can't resist.
  • NO MORE FORMULA!!!
  • Walking--A little tipsy, but tries to walk wherever she goes.
  • Duchess--One, because she follows me around as much as duchess does. Two, because she lights up whenever she sees duchess.
  • So big--Raises both her hands in the air when you say "so big."
  • My purse--She'll clean it out whenever I leave it unzipped.
  • Bare feet--Pulls off her socks as soon as I struggle getting them on.
  • Sugar bowl--Likes to wrestle on the ground and giggles when momma or daddy gets her sugar bowl.
  • Chairs--Loves to get into or onto anything sitting on the ground...i.e. chairs, carseats, plastic bowl, tupperware bin, mattresses, laundry baskets, and so on.
  • Jealousy--Whenever Chloe comes to sit on my lap Alanna will try to push her off. Is this sibling rivalry already?
  • Bathtime--If she makes her way into the bathroom I'll often find her with one leg up on the side of the bath trying to get in. (At least it's better than playing in the toilet, which is where I find her other times.)
  • Messy--When she's done with her food in the highchair we'll know because everything is on the floor, but no worries because we have duchess the instant vacuum.
  • Big squeezes-Because whenever I see her I just want to give her big squeezes.

We love you, Alanna!
